Drinking in Savannah
Savannah, Georgia is serious when it comes to talking, consuming, or even the production of alcohol. Savannah hosts many different drinking scenes such as a local brewery/pub, English and Scottish pubs, a bar to fix a certain sweet tooth, and even a bar on wheels that tours through the historic downtown district. Within the historic downtown district, there is an “open container” law, allowing guests and locals to consume an open alcoholic beverage on the sidewalks (must be in a plastic cup that is usually provided by bartender).
The current location of Moon River was once one of Savannah’s original hotel sites, and is the only brewery/eat-in pub that has been brewing and serving house beers for over 10 years. Rumors state that a ghostly presence haunts Moon River to this day.
